Bowden Bros Ltd was registered as a private limited company in 1930 by Major A.H. Bowden.

The company remains today as an innovative specialist family company run by Ian Bowden. The Company concentrates on the development of  unique products tailored to improve the performance and effectiveness of Electricity Distribution Companies in particular.

Based for the last 15 years in Dorking, Surrey, it prides itself in keeping pace with cutting edge technology, as well as delivering a quality product when it is required by the customer.

Bowden Bros Ltd has been  accredited  continuously through  the inception of BS5750 to the current ISO 9001 -2008 standard.   In 2009/2010 over 20% of our turnover was attributed to overseas sales.

  1. Overhead Line Fault Indicators

    The Pathfinder range of overhead line fault passage indicators has been developed over the past 30 years and has reach an unsurpassed level of performance.

  2. Underground Cable Fault Indicators

    The SIGMA and Omega range of underground fault indicators offer great flexibility in the features required to meet the challenges of fault finding on modern cable networks.

  3. Data Management Products

    The addition of GSM/GPRS communications to many of the above products gives the ability to receive alarm data instantly  and thus expand the potential for the management of smart networks.

  4. Test Instruments

    The Bowden Bros instrument range includes Cable Identifiers, Contact Timers, Testers amongst other quality products.

Milestones

Brief History of Our Company

1930

Bowden Bros Ltd  founded by Major A.H. Bowden and his brother  E.L. Bowden

1962

Jimmy Bowden  takes over as M.D.  from his father,  and introduced underground marking tape into the U.K.  for the first time.

1973

The first Overhead Line fault passage indicator,  Pathfinder,  was developed  with SWEB  and marketed in the U.K.

1984

Ian Bowden, who joined the company in 1975  takes over from  his father as MD, and the business relocates to Compass House in Bromley, Kent.

1987

Bowdens  introduces the first electronic  fault indicator  for underground networks to replace the mechanical devices  that were used historically.

1992

Bowden Bros relocates  to  Dorking  and introduces the  first  practical  permanently installed  OHL  fault passage indicator  to the U.K.

2004

Remote communications  introduced  to key models of OHL  and UGC  fault indicators to allow rapid  analysis  of fault  detection.
